Poetry Club
What Is Poetry Club?
In poetry club, students gather weekly to discuss a poem they chose the week prior. Students also discuss the author of the poem including background on the authors life and why they think the author wrote the poem. If desired, students have the option to bring in poems they have written themselves. They can share their poem with the group and then answer questions about their poem. At any point during the meetings if there are questions about poetry style, language, or formatting students are free to ask the poetry club sponsor (Mrs. Grilli) their questions.

Meeting times: Every Wednesday at 3:30pm in Mrs. Grilli's room

Classroom involvement: Mrs. Grilli's English classes and poetry club will have access to all of the resources and poems on the poetry club website for teaching purposes.

About Your Sponsor
Hello students, my name is Mrs. Grilli and I am the sponsor of the schools Poetry Club! I am an English teacher for those of you who don't know me, and I was so excited to be asked to be the poetry club sponsor. I have loved poetry since I was young, and I frequently teach different poetry lessons in my classes. Dante is one of my favorite poets. I wanted to create a website where students in the club could post poems they enjoy, or even their own poems if they wish to share them. I also wanted to provide an easy way for students to find out more about the club and to be able to contact me. My overall goal with this club is to foster a positive and creative environment where students can read, write, share, and analyze poetry while meeting students that have similar interests.
